Organizations need their managerial skills and abilities more than ever in these uncertain, complex, and chaotic times. Managerial skills and abilities are critical in getting things done. The quality of the employee/supervisor relationship is the most important variable in productivity and loyalty. The ability to manage a company‘s scarce resources is critical in getting things done in efficient and effective manner. Efficiency concerns with resource allocations, whereas effectiveness concerns with goal attainment. The relationship between managers and their subordinates and the company‘s various stakeholders is of utmost important to ensure both productivity and loyalty.
Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of people in order to achieve a common goal. When we talk about a leader or someone who assumes a leadership role, we concerns ourselves on how they make decisions, how they deal with everyday problems in the organization, and most importantly, how they influence others in the organization to stay committed in the organization‘s short term as well as long term goals. Leadership, just like any other skills, is learned. People honed their leadership skill overtime with great struggles and difficulties. Moreover, companies spend billions of dollars to turn their managers into leaders that contribute to their companies‘ success. There is no specific formula for good leadership. Many times, leaders have to make some adjustments in their leaderships styles in order to adapt with the dynamics and the current changes in their environments.
