Basically there are two types of reservation system:
1 ) Manual Reservations All transactions are carried out manually. This system is usually applied by relatively small airlines.
2) Computerized Reservations Transactions are processed by computers. However, in some cases manual system is still needed in fully mechanized reservations, e.g. in handling group booking or incapacitated passengers.Airline reservation covers the area of providing seat, space, special request, services or other accommodations to the passengers. There are three basic elements involved in the application of airline reservations:
a. Appointment (between passenger and airline).
b. Requirement needed by passenger and airline.
c. Seat availability provided by airline.
Airlines reservations is distinguished from other reservations transactions because of some facilities it has, such as:
1 . Wheel chair.
2. Stretcher.
3. Unaccompanied Minor handling.
4. Excess baggage.
